Description
The Paulistana lounge chair and ottoman, designed by Jorge Zalszupin and manufactured by his company L’Atelier in 1959, exemplify mid-century Brazilian sophistication. Zalszupin pioneered the use of plywood in crafting the lounge chair, naming it after São Paulo's citizens, known as “Paulistanos.” This design features molded Brazilian rosewood (Jacaranda), suede upholstery, and a metal base.
This particular chair was purchased from a private residence in São Paulo. Both the wood and metal components are original and remain in excellent condition. The set has been reupholstered in suede by Manuelzinho, an expert upholsterer who collaborated with Sergio Rodrigues in the 1980s. This iconic and emblematic chair is exceptionally comfortable and would elevate any interior with a touch of Brazilian mid-century elegance.
