Description
Produced by Decorações Fátima in Brazil during the 1960s, this pair of rosewood and travertine side tables brings architectural clarity to a richly textured combination of materials. Each table features a rectangular stone top above an open rosewood framework, with substantial square-section legs, restrained apron rails, and a generously proportioned lower shelf. The uninterrupted space between the two levels gives the design an airy presence while keeping books and objects readily accessible.
The aged rosewood displays deep brown tones, warm amber undertones, and expressive dark grain, particularly evident across the broad lower shelves. Its subtle satin sheen lends depth to the wood without obscuring its natural variation. Above, the travertine introduces a softer palette of ivory, sand, and pale honey, animated by irregular mineral markings and delicate cavities visible along the edges. The contrast between pale stone and dark wood defines the composition.
Their rectangular proportions allow the tables to sit lengthwise, parallel to a sofa, or turn perpendicular beside its arms, adapting naturally to different seating arrangements. With their measured geometry, useful storage, and emphasis on material character, the pair expresses the warmth and practical intelligence of Brazilian Modern furniture.
