Description

This refined pair of nightstands was produced in Brazil in the 1950s by an as-yet unidentified designer and beautifully captures the elegance of Brazilian Mid-Century Modern design. Each table is crafted in solid and veneered caviúna, a prized tropical hardwood known for its warm caramel tones and lively, linear grain. The clean rectangular case is fitted with a single drawer, finished with a discreet solid brass pull that adds a subtle touch of brightness.

The nightstands sit on four slender, sculpted legs that taper gracefully toward the floor, giving the pieces a light, elevated presence. Recently refinished by our restorers, the wood now presents a satin-matte sheen that highlights the natural figuring and color variation of the caviúna while preserving the character of the original construction.

Functional and versatile, this matched pair works beautifully as bedside tables or as companion side tables in a living room or study, bringing a distinctly Brazilian modern sensibility to any interior.
