Description

This model, called "Concha" (which means "Shell" in Portuguese) and designed by Joaquim Tenreiro, features a hardwood frame upholstered in teal mohair. Four slender, toothpick-like legs support the armchairs. The backrest, resembling a shell, is elegantly curved and smoothly extends into the armrests.

Produced in 1960 by Joaquim Tenreiro’s company, the Concha armchair reflects his innovative approach to design. With a strong respect for tradition, it blends Brazilian woodworking craftsmanship with European influences. At the same time, Tenreiro infused it with a fresh sensibility by incorporating modern forms and more harmonious lines to create a lighter, more balanced piece that further emphasizes its grace.
