Description

This generously proportioned Brazilian modern sofa pairs the warmth of richly figured rosewood with the soft, muted color of celadon mohair. The wood’s deep grain and tonal variation give the frame a character that has grown more expressive with age.

Two broad seat cushions and two gently crowned back cushions create an inviting place to sit while keeping the silhouette clean. The open armrests extend in long, slender rosewood rails with softly rounded ends, supported by angled uprights. Beneath the cushions, a substantial horizontal apron grounds the design; at the rear, a continuous rosewood panel makes the sofa equally compelling when seen from behind.

Attributed to Jean Gillon and dating to 1960s Brazil, the sofa balances architectural clarity with everyday comfort. Its generous scale gives the rosewood room to speak, while the celadon mohair lends the piece a quiet, luxurious softness.
