Description

This mid-century bar cart, crafted from Caviuna hardwood, is a stunning example of functional and practical design from the era. It boasts a unique three-position functionality: closed, it serves as an elegant bar with two levels; open, it transforms into a flat table; and in its third position, it becomes a three-stage bar. The wood has been beautifully restored, and the hardware works perfectly. The original wheels, left untouched, showcase the age of the piece and add a lot of character. The manufacturer’s seal is located under the bottom table. The last image is a vintage publication from Casa e Jardim, Brazil (Edition 43, June 1958, p27), showcasing the piece in its different positions.

This section focuses on the lesser-known treasures within Brazilian design, which have yet to receive the recognition they deserve from the public. Despite being overshadowed by the iconic designs of Joaquim Tenreiro, Carlo Hauner, Martin Eisler, Jorge Zalszupin and Sergio Rodrigues, these craftsmen and small manufacturers still managed to produce cutting-edge pieces that embodied the "modern values" of form and materiality.
