Description
This four-seat sofa by JD Móveis brings together expressive Brazilian rosewood, sculptural woodworking, and inviting upholstery. Its low, elongated frame gives the richly figured veneer room to unfold: dark, meandering lines gather into swirling eyes and wave-like formations across a warm reddish-brown ground. The vintage wood’s depth and tonal variation lend individuality to the disciplined silhouette.
Broad side panels curve around the ends, meeting a substantial horizontal rail supported by short legs and intermediate supports. Viewed from behind, closely spaced wooden slats rise in a measured rhythm, their curved profiles forming an open cradle for the back cushions. Rounded edges, carefully shaped transitions, and the integration of broad veneered surfaces with slender structural elements demonstrate accomplished craftsmanship.
Warm champagne velvet softens the architecture with a delicate tonal pattern and gentle luster. Two generous seat cushions have softly crowned surfaces, while two broad back cushions feature restrained button tufting. Self-welted edges define the tailoring; padded arm cushions sweep over the wooden sides, creating a comfortable, enveloping outline.
Within Brazilian modernism, this JD Móveis sofa illustrates the contribution of furniture manufacturers to a design culture grounded in expressive native woods, considered construction, and everyday comfort. Its fully articulated reverse allows the craftsmanship to remain visible when placed freely within a room.
