Description

Designed by Carlo Hauner (1927–1997) in the 1950s, this rectangular side table exemplifies the material clarity and structural discipline of Brazilian modernism. Hauner’s work from this period reflects a refined balance between function and proportion, articulated through a measured dialogue between wood and metal.

The design is defined by a rectilinear jacarandá (Brazilian rosewood) top integrated with two drawers, anchored to a black metal base. A wire lower shelf introduces transparency and visual tension, offsetting the mass of the wood while maintaining structural clarity. The composition remains balanced and restrained, with storage absorbed seamlessly into the form.

Material integrity is expressed through the dense grain and warm tonal variation of the rosewood, paired with the precision of the metal framework. Originating from a private collection, the table is presented in excellent vintage condition.

A rare and thoughtfully resolved example of Hauner’s furniture design, this piece stands as a collectible expression of Brazilian mid-century modernism suited to serious interiors.
