Description

A refined pair of tall side tables from Brazil, dating to the 1960s, combining richly figured rosewood with polished marble tops. Their restrained architectural construction reflects the material sophistication and clean geometry associated with Brazilian Modern design of the period.

Each table is structured around four slender rosewood posts that rise slightly above the marble surface, creating a subtle framed detail around the top. Below, an open slatted shelf adds both visual rhythm and practical storage while preserving the lightness of the overall silhouette. The polished marble tops introduce a luminous, neutral counterpoint to the depth and warmth of the wood.

The rosewood displays beautiful natural aging, with nuanced variations of deep brown, reddish, and amber tones that emphasize the character of the grain. This mature patina gives the pair a warmth that complements the crisp geometry of the frames and the understated elegance of the stone.

Tall and exceptionally versatile in scale, the tables work equally well as side tables flanking a sofa, occasional tables beside lounge chairs, or bedside tables. Their neutral marble surfaces and richly toned rosewood allow them to integrate naturally into both contemporary interiors and collections of Brazilian and international mid-century modern furniture.

A handsome and highly functional pair distinguished by elegant proportions, expressive aged rosewood, polished marble, and the characteristic material balance of Brazilian Modernism.
