Description

This magazine rack on casters, produced in Brazil in the 1970s, reflects the period’s interest in practical domestic objects expressed through strong material contrast and clean geometric form. The design is defined by a cubic volume constructed in sucupira hardwood, whose deep tone and pronounced grain anchor the piece visually while emphasizing the natural character of the material.

One side of the structure opens to reveal three angled acrylic dividers, allowing magazines and periodicals to be organized while remaining partially visible. The transparency of the acrylic introduces a light visual counterpoint to the density of the wood, a subtle dialogue between industrial and natural materials common in Brazilian design of the era.

The rack rests on four chromed casters, providing mobility and reinforcing its intended function as a flexible reading-room accessory. The wood has been professionally refinished, bringing forward the richness of the sucupira grain. The piece remains in excellent vintage condition, showing only light signs of age consistent with use.
