Description
Executed in solid Brazilian rosewood (jacarandá), this console reflects the material richness and structural clarity that define mid-century Brazilian modern design. The composition is disciplined and architectural: a rectilinear upper case rests within a trestle-style base, creating a measured dialogue between mass and openness.
The side panels display pronounced tonal variation, with lighter golden veining running through the darker rosewood field. This natural contrast animates the otherwise restrained geometry, allowing the wood grain to serve as the primary decorative element. The case is elevated on four integrated legs joined by a horizontal stretcher, reinforcing the structural logic of the piece while maintaining visual balance.
Four original chrome casters remain intact, discreetly incorporated into the base. Their polished surface introduces a subtle industrial counterpoint to the density and warmth of the jacarandá, underscoring the modernist interplay between mobility and permanence.
The rosewood has been professionally refinished to restore depth and clarity to the grain while preserving the integrity of the form. The console presents in excellent vintage condition, with minor wear consistent with age.
Defined by clean lines, material integrity, and functional restraint, this piece exemplifies the Brazilian modern commitment to proportion and craftsmanship—where the expressive character of native hardwood is allowed to articulate the design.
