Description
Attributed to Forma, Brazil, this bar cart from the 1960s reflects the studio’s refined balance of industrial precision and warm natural materials. The design is organized around a slender chromed metal frame supporting two removable trays, creating a light yet structurally clear composition typical of Brazilian modernist furniture.
Each tray is defined by sculpted Brazilian rosewood edges and reversible surfaces—rosewood veneer on one side and white Formica on the other—allowing the cart to shift between a richly toned serving surface and a practical preparation plane. The lower tray echoes the geometry of the upper, reinforcing the cart’s visual cohesion while providing additional storage.
Mounted on discreet casters, the piece was conceived for mobility and ease of use, with trays that can be lifted and used independently when serving. The metal frame has been cleaned and brushed to a matte finish, while the wood has been professionally refinished.
A restrained and functional work, the cart exemplifies Forma’s thoughtful approach to material contrast and modern domestic utility.
