Description

his pair of Art Nouveau table lamps reflects the movement’s commitment to organic line, ornamental detail, and sculptural presence. Conceived in the early twentieth century, the composition integrates marble, brass, and textile into a unified vertical statement.

Each lamp rises from a circular marble base whose dark veining anchors the form with visual weight. Above, a curved brass body unfolds in a bottle-like silhouette, tapering upward into a slender neck before meeting the shade. The surface is animated by intricate repoussé-style patterning, suggestive of Middle Eastern decorative vocabularies translated through the lens of Art Nouveau’s fluid geometry. The metalwork articulates a careful balance between curvature and elongation, emphasizing vertical movement without sacrificing structural stability.

The proportions are notably tall and refined, measuring 45 inches in height. The original shades—19 inches tall with a 16-inch diameter—maintain the lamps’ elongated profile while diffusing light evenly. Fully functional hardware preserves the integrity of the original construction, and the shades remain in excellent condition.

Together, the pair exemplifies Art Nouveau’s synthesis of craftsmanship and ornament, where material richness and sculptural contour resolve into a cohesive and architectonic lighting form.
