Description
This pair of Art Deco table lamps, produced in the 1930s, reflects the period’s refined balance between streamlined geometry and ornamental restraint. The composition articulates a dialogue between polished brass and textured teal surfaces, characteristic of the era’s interest in material contrast and sculptural form.
Each lamp is defined by a ribbed, gently tapering body finished in a muted teal tone, its horizontal banding introducing rhythm and depth across the surface. The form narrows subtly toward a brass base, while a polished brass collar transitions cleanly to the upper fitting. The interplay between the cool matte texture and the warm metallic sheen reinforces the lamps’ structural clarity and visual grounding.
The proportions remain measured and compact, standing 23 inches high with a 10-inch diameter. The softly curved silhouette ensures stability while maintaining elegance, allowing the decorative articulation to remain disciplined rather than excessive. Newly crafted linen shades preserve the lamps’ vertical clarity and provide a warm, diffused illumination consistent with their original character.
Retained in excellent vintage condition, this pair exemplifies Art Deco’s commitment to material integrity and balanced proportion—where metallic refinement and sculptural contour resolve into a cohesive and enduring design.
