Description
This credenza, designed by Joaquim Tenreiro in 1942 during his final year at Laubisch & Hirth, a prestigious furniture firm in Rio de Janeiro, marks one of his earliest modernist works as he transitioned away from traditional European design. Following this period, Tenreiro embarked on his own path as a designer. Originally housed in a private residence in Teresopolis, a city two hours from Rio de Janeiro, this rectangular credenza is crafted from cerejera hardwood and features four doors, two shelves, two drawers, and stands on four legs. The Laubisch & Hirth manufacturer's seal and timestamp are located on the back. Fully refinished, the credenza is in excellent condition, showcasing Tenreiro's early mastery of streamlined shapes and modernist aesthetics.
