Description
The wood pieces produced by Carlo Hauner for Forma Móveis e Objetos de Arte during the 1950 in Brazil are highly designed and well-executed. This folding table is one example of the high level of his designs. The legs of the dining table can be folded at an angle, creating the base for a coffee table. This dining/ coffee table hybrid was developed to address the new living spaces in Brazil, as more and more people started to live in apartments instead of large houses. The structure is made of solid Caviuna wood with almost no screw or nail, but only wood fitting. The table is in its original condition and presents a manufacturing stamp. The wood has been restored and is in excellent condition. This table has four matching dining chairs (Lot 492) that would perfectly compliment this magnificent piece.
This piece was quite popular in the fifties and was featured countless times in decoration magazines of the time in Brazil. Attached some vintage publications also.
The four matching chairs, also from Carlo Hauner and in Caviuna are sold separately. The set can be seen in the video. An incredible piece like this will be a great addition to any mid-century modern collection so if you are looking for a unique piece look no further!
