Description

This sculptural pair of Brazilian Modern side tables from the 1960s combines richly figured rosewood with luminous pink granite in a confident study of material, geometry and craftsmanship.

Each table is constructed from solid Brazilian rosewood, or jacarandá, with four substantial square legs joined by a rectilinear perimeter frame. A pair of intersecting diagonal stretchers forms a strong X-shaped structure beneath the top, creating a graphic architectural presence while providing balance and stability.

The joinery is particularly beautiful. Precisely fitted intersections, clean structural connections and subtle exposed details reveal the skill of the cabinetmaker without disrupting the clarity of the design. The granite tops feature carefully notched corners that integrate seamlessly with the projecting legs, creating an elegant relationship between structure and surface.

The Brazilian rosewood has aged beautifully, developing deep chocolate tones, warm amber highlights and expressive natural veining. Professionally refinished with a restrained satin-matte sheen, the wood retains its depth and character without appearing overly restored.

Each table is crowned by a slab of pink granite distinguished by soft tonal variation and delicate linear mineral markings. The stone has been professionally polished, enhancing its natural color, depth and smooth tactile finish.
