Description
These Brazilian Modern side tables balance richly figured rosewood, expressive original marble, and an unusually graceful storage structure. Each square top frames the stone within a broad, mitered rosewood border, its sculpted edge forming a softly concave profile. Four slender, straight legs establish an architectural rhythm, while curved lower rails introduce a fluid counterpoint beneath the angular tops.
The rosewood has aged beautifully, revealing deep brown grain interwoven with reddish amber streaks. Its mellow sheen brings depth to the timber and emphasizes the shaped edges. The original marble offers a luminous contrast: irregular cream formations, muted sage-gray passages, and dusty rose to burgundy veining create a richly varied surface. The stone’s gentle patina contributes to the pair’s layered material character, with each top displaying its own distinct natural pattern.
Below, an open rack of slender parallel rods rests between sweeping rosewood rails, providing accessible storage for books and magazines while preserving the tables’ visual lightness. This integration of practical function and sculptural detail gives the pair a quiet individuality. Beside a sofa or flanking a bed, they bring the warmth, material richness, and considered proportions associated with Brazilian furniture of the 1960s.
