A striking Brazilian modernist modular bench crafted in richly figured rosewood with newly restored hand-woven cane seats, Brazil, circa 1960s.

The design is defined by its elegant sequence of gently curved seat panels, creating a subtle rhythm across the length of the piece. Each module is framed by sculptural rosewood supports that emphasize both the warmth of the wood and the lightness of the woven cane. The rosewood frame has been carefully refinished to highlight the dramatic natural veining of the timber, while the cane seating has been newly installed, restoring the bench’s original visual lightness and craftsmanship.

As presented in the photographs, the bench is accompanied by custom slim cushions upholstered in ivory bouclé. Designed with a minimal profile, the cushions enhance comfort while preserving the sculptural curvature of the cane seats and the architectural purity of the frame.
