Description

Designed by Branco e Preto in Brazil in the 1950s, this rectangular side table reflects the material refinement and proportional discipline of Brazilian modern design. Furniture of this period emphasized clarity of structure and the expressive use of native woods, principles that are clearly articulated here.

The table is defined by a rectilinear, two-tier composition supported by slender legs. A glass top introduces lightness and visual tension, while the lower shelf grounds the form, creating a balanced and architectonic presence. The symmetry and restraint of the geometry rely on structural clarity rather than ornament.

Constructed in jacarandá (Brazilian rosewood), the table demonstrates material integrity through its rich grain and tonal depth. The wood has been professionally refinished, and the lower tier is executed in rosewood veneer selected for continuity and balance. The glass top provides contrast while maintaining compositional restraint.

Originating from a private collection, the table is presented in excellent vintage condition. A refined and thoughtfully resolved example of Brazilian mid-century furniture, it stands as a collectible work grounded in material and structural intelligence.
