Description
A warm and elegantly proportioned pair of Brazilian modern armchairs produced by Fátima during the 1960s. The design reflects the period’s emphasis on comfort, sculptural woodworking, and refined material contrast—hallmarks of Brazil’s mid-century furniture production.
The armchairs are constructed from solid Brazilian rosewood (jacarandá), with beautifully sculpted arms and legs that give the pieces a grounded yet graceful presence. The deep, richly toned rosewood enhances the clarity of the form, emphasizing the confident geometry and soft curves of the design. Recently refinished, the wood reveals a smooth surface and expressive grain, underscoring the quality of the original material.
The seats and backs have been newly upholstered in a sophisticated off-white bouclé, introducing a tactile softness that contrasts elegantly with the density of the rosewood frame. The generous cushions and balanced proportions result in exceptionally comfortable seating, well suited for both relaxed living spaces and curated interiors.
The pair presents in excellent vintage condition. The wood has been carefully restored, and the upholstery is new, offering a fresh yet authentic presentation consistent with the original design intent.
A timeless and versatile example of Brazilian modern furniture, combining comfort, craftsmanship, and understated elegance.
