Carlo Fongaro

Carlo Benvenuto Fongaro (1915-1986), an Italian-born furniture designer and Politécnico di Milano graduate, significantly impacted the Brazilian mid-century modern furniture design movement. After arriving in Brazil in 1947, he pioneered the movement of contemporary, elegant office furniture using rosewood and square steel tubes. His collaborations with companies like Ambiente and Probjeto expanded his innovative approach to home furniture, incorporating natural fibers and local materials to infuse his designs with a uniquely Brazilian style.
